fakie fwd

In this consumer age we're living in, with digital video cameras, laptops, cellphones, wireless devices, it seems like everyone is communicating, everyone is his (or her) own media. A lot of skateboarders are documenting themselves, or having friends document them, trying to get sponsored, trying to get their piece of the pie, trying to make their mark.

Here's the other end of the scale, ladies and gents, the see-saw, the pendulum, the broccoli and carrots to go with that candy apple pie ice cream that coats your teeth and stomach. Here's a glimpse in to the skateboarding heart and mind of Greg Russo. The homemade bowl in his backyard was barely devirginized when he and his roommate, Dave, hit the road for 3 weeks. From June 30th to July 23rd, 2000 they sessioned their way in to Colorado, Nevada, California, and Oregon. With a sketchbook and pencils, Greg documented each step of the way.

He did this not for you, nor this zine, but for himself. With that in mind here's an overview of what these skatespots have to offer out there, and with these overviews, the subtle sarcasm, wit, and humor that only Greg Russo, the skateboarder, can present. Thanks for sharing Greg.
