SK8TC: Who did you grow up skating with Al Baker, what was your first scene?
Alex: My first scene was probably, like 1979-1980, in central Jersey with a bunch of guys, we rode a vert ramp in the woods, and we'd go to some skateparks. Cherry Hill Skatepark in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. I grew up in New Jersey, that's where I met Dan Tag. We grew up right near each other and he actually went out with my younger sister, briefly. We had a ramp in a barn, "the barn ramp" as it was called. That's where I first met Tag. That was like 1982. I skated with Jim Murphy and Tom Groholski. Tom Groholski's father had a 4-H club skate team and we'd do demos and his father would drive us to Cherry Hill skatepark. That was a really good skatepark in South Jersey. So, ya know, it was fun. The good old days. |
