Well, with all this in mind my brother, Sebastian and I headed down to the Pool from Sebastian's house in Cambridge. We knew we were in for an experience but none of us really knew what to expect. I mean we had all seen photos and videos of people skating pools but until this day all we had ever skated was street.
As you walk towards the Pool you are on display for everyone inside of it. It takes a while to walk around the fence to the hole that always is cut every year. While walking around the Pool we saw the most amazing skate spot we had ever seen. The Pool was completely covered in graffiti and filled with a bunch of dread-locked skaters. Undaunted we climbed through the hole in the fence and almost as soon as we walked through, one of the older guys, Kevin Day, screamed at us that the only way we were gonna be able to skate is if we each kicked down ten dollars. Basically Kevin was trying to get back some of the money they had spent to rent a pump to drain the Pool. He made as much clear to us but at 13, I don't think I ever managed to have ten dollars on me for too long. |
