We adjourned to their house for refreshments, where my interest grew at the sight of acrylic paintings on pool blocks, antique skateboards on the walls, and an assortment of cardboard signs that I assumed to be hitchhiking souvenirs, inked with cities well known for their gnarly skateparks. The backyard was jam packed with classic bicycles in need, or in the process of, restoration, bonfire residue, beer cans, and a couple of couches beneath a canopy - shelter from the scorching Arizona sunshine. I stayed in Tucson for about a month (with my bro Sean pictured above), during which I patched together "Balance" issue #5, and my friendship with the Dream Destroyers germinated.
