I didn't make it to Maximus quite as often. Monday night was rollerblade night, Wednesday night was ladies night, the official hours 12-8 were enforced, no more late night sesh. Check out the Lunasea video to see what Karen thought of ladies night. I was really jonesing to skate one Wednesday and my roommate Greggy B was workin. He said it had pretty much died down to two or three diehards and they were just down to skate (boys or no boys). Doug was there when I arrived though, and oddly enough, so were a bazillion girls who were more concerned about gender than skating. It was a setup. I decided to go in and just say hi, didn't even bring in my board, and Doug snapped. "You have no business ever being here on a Wednesday!" Skater Island opened around 4th of July just over 1 hour South of the Maxi pad. The wandering vert dogs had a new home. Maximus closed down temporarily in the Fall due to lack of building permits and suspected "brown bagging." An article about ladies night in the "Cambridge Tab" might have brought more publicity than desired. They paid fines, young Gavin defended them in court, they built new stairs, walls and railings, painted, and reopened.
