Belmar has the ultimate backyard in my perspective. Like any private skate facility, the sterile buzz kill of a skatepark is nonexistent. A cooler full of beer and a barbecue take the place of id cards and membership fees. I wish I could've been there to celebrate the 10 year birthday party for this bowl. Luckily, Belmar's achievement opened the eyes of many to the backyard bowl possibility. Just as Alan Gelfand's monster has evolved through adaptations, skateboarding has received the gifts of the dedicated that have followed Kelly's lead including Chicken's, West Seattle, Skatopia, the Humbler, Polish Hill, ECRW, Wanchese, and even one of the guys in Pearl Jam has himself a bowl.
